André Wagner

André Wagner

André Wagner is photographic artist from Berlin. His passion is nature in its original form and transmitting its magic through his images. On his travels through India, he photographed sacred pilgrimage sites: Govardhana mountain, night temples and an authentic palm-leaf library. His pictures have an extraordinary mystical power: they show the holy cities in their natural surroundings - and yet it seems a mysterious aura surrounds them, as if the photos demonstrate the true soul of these sacred places.

In his recently published illustrated book Authentic Nature, André gathers powerful nature photos from his travels around the world: enchanted forests and rugged rock formations, sunlit landscapes and even a lunar rainbow.

He is currently working on a second book with pictures of his India trip; a selection of these works will be exhibited at the Villa Luise during the Festival!

Dave Stringer & Band

Dave Stringer & Band

The Los Angeles Times has declared the experience of chanting with Dave Stringer to be "a departure from ancient kirtan. Stringer's performance shaped the experience into a far more compelling musical encounter." He has been widely profiled as one of the most innovative artists of the new International kirtan movement in publications as diverse as Yoga Aktuell, Time, Billboard, Yoga Journal and In Style.

Stringer's sound marries the transcendent mysticism of traditional Indian instruments with the exuberant, groove-oriented sensibility of American gospel, and he is regarded as one of the most accomplished singers in the genre. His work intends to create a modern and participatory theatrical experience out of the ancient traditions of kirtan and yoga, open to a multiplicity of interpretations, and accessible to all.

Initially trained as a visual artist, filmmaker and jazz musician, Stringer had his formative experiences with chanting when film editing work brought him to the Siddha Yoga ashram in Ganeshpuri, India in 1990. A subsequent period of residence at the ashram laid the foundation for his continuing study of the ideas, practices and music of yoga. After returning to California in 1992, he began leading kirtan in yoga studios and teaching meditation to prison inmates.

Since 2000, Stringer and an extended family of accompanying musicians have toured North America, Australia and Europe tirelessly. An articulate and engaging public speaker, he probes the dilemmas of the spirit with a wry and unorthodox sense of humor. Stringer frequently works in tandem with masters of the art of hatha yoga, creating music for workshops led by John Friend, Shiva Rea, and Gurmukh, among many others. His voice also appears on numerous soundtracks, including the blockbuster film "Matrix Revolutions" and the video game "Myst".

Jenny, (Jason) & Team

Jenny Sauer-Klein

Jenny Sauer-Klein - A lifelong lover of movement, expression and connection, I spent my childhood and early adulthood dancing, singing and acting. Discovering yoga while I was in university was the answers to prayers I didn't even know I had. I began teaching yoga in New York City a few years later, where I also began teaching circus arts to children in afterschool programs. Little did I know where it was all leading to.

From my very first experience of flying, I was hooked. Like many worthwhile things in life, it didn't come easily, but my deep love of the practice kept me coming back for more. I was entranced by the limitless potential of two or more beings coming together in a devotional, playful and mutually supportive practice. Ultimately, it is about being present with myself and my partner, and regardless of whether or not I even know this person's name, relating to this being as a reflection of divine essence.

Lorna Neuber

Lorna Neuber

I teach a flowing style of hatha yoga. Each movement follows the natural rhythm of the breath. This yoga stretches and strengthens muscles and improves circulation. We practice dynamically, making time to watch how our bodies and minds react to the experience. If you try yoga, you are likely to notice changes in yourself after the very first lesson.

I discovered Yoga in London in 1994, starting with athletic Astanga Vinyasa. I have since experimented with a number of dynamic and reflective forms of hatha yoga and developed my personal style.

I trained with Derek Ireland in 1997 (Astanga Vinyasa), with Patricia Thielemann from 2005 until 2007 (foundation course according to Yoga Alliance guidelines and advanced training in prenatal and postnatal yoga), and with Mukunda Stiles (yoga therapy) and Thomas Bannenberg (Yoga for children). My teaching is inspired by Mark Whitwell, Mukunda Stiles and Uma Dinsmore-Tuli.

Satyaa & Pari

Satyaa & Pari

Satyaa and Pari met in Lucknow, in the community around Sri HWL Poonja (lovingly called Papaji by his devotees). Papaji always stressed the outstanding importance of bhakti (devotion) as a direct way to the Divine within us. This love and devotion finds expression in the music of Satyaa and Pari, mostly their own compositions of mantra songs of devotion. However, some famous traditional hymns of divine love from India are included as well!

This love for divine devotion shines from all songs on their CDs. Their latest CD, "Surrender" is a new collection of these songs, coming from the heart. They live in Alexis Zorbas Center in Corfu, which Pari founded many years ago. Pari has toured for many years through various cities in Europe and America; now together, their live performances exude the divine spark through their devoted voices, with the power to show the listener the way to his own heart. Come and enjoy!

Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath

Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath

Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath is an enlightened master from the line of the Himalayan Nath yogis (the oldest line of spiritual masters on earth), and a disciple of Babaji Mahavatar (also known from Autobiography of a Yogi). As a manifestation of universal compassion, love & wisdom, he provides the pure, directly transmitted teaching of Kriya Yoga. Yogiraj is one of the very few Siddhas from the Himalayas to the public. At his workshop, he provides three distinct benefits: Shivapat, Shaktipat & Pranapat (energy transfer from the original masters through to the students). Even as a four-year-old child, he sat in meditation for hours, spent his early years with the highest Nath yogis in the Himalayas, and received the direct blessing of Babaji. Finally he reached the highest state of yoga, the "Nirvikhalpa Samadhi" (also known as "Nirvana").

Kriya Yoga is known as "the alchemy of total transformation." Life is transformed by concentrated breathwork. Kriya burns negative karma away and thus prevents the future suffering of body and mind. The Kriya Yogi furthers his own subtle progress in his evolution; for half a minute of Kriya practice = a year of intellectual development!
