The Highest Self - Here and Now

with Ingvar Villido Ishvarananda and Nandi Devar

We experience different restrictions in our lives that prevent us from realising our dreams and living a fulfilled life. But what is true lasting happiness?

The answers are often so near and can be amazingly simple. Ingvar Villido Ishvarananda shows ways to the Highest, as a source of lasting happiness, to be recognised and experienced in oneself. With his strong inspirational presence and his simple and humorous manner he embodies wisdom and awareness.

As a master of intuition he passes on his knowledge, arising directly from the moment of happening, and yet at the same time is based on a life of human and spiritual self-realisation. He identifies ways and means to overcome the obstacles that stand on the road to our happiness and self-realisation.

Yoga Anatomy - "Compression or Tension - What's holding you back?"

with Mirjam Wagner

As Yogis explore the physical body through asanas, we are often confronted with restrictions that make us feel that we are not moving any deeper. This can lead to frustration and and challenges that move from the physical practice into frustrations in other parts of our lives.

With self study and some technical insight, we can learn if the restrictions of the physical body come from bone compression or muscle tension and reveal to the practitioner how to focus energy in effective ways to open and release muscle tension and accept where bone compression prevents further movement.

Beginning with a lecture style format to introduce basic anatomy and bone and muscle functions, this workshop also includes interactive lessons and practice to see and feel personally what is holding you back.

Ayurveda and Yoga - Detoxification for body and soul (Lecture)

with Lothar Pirc

The original science of health is as old as the human race. It's called ayurveda, which is Sanskrit for "science of life." The written records of this complete system of natural health care are about 5,000 years old. From age to age, sages and physicians have rediscovered this timeless health wisdom.

In 1980, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the Transcendental Meditation program, began working with India's top Ayurvedic experts. They revived the ancient knowledge of health and called it Maharishi Ayurveda. They formed a medical council that created our authentic herbal formulas according to the Ayurvedic texts. They also established an international network of doctors, clinics and schools that are dedicated to reducing disease and offering good health to the people of every nation.

Both yoga and ayurveda have their origin in the Vedic tradition of India, and both are a means to gain better health. A verse from the Yoga Sutra, yogas chitta vritti nirodhaha, describes yoga as the settled state of the mind. He compares it to a verse from Ayurvedic texts, svasmin dishati iti svasthah, which states that one who always remains united with the Self/Atma is a healthy person. These verses show that both yoga and ayurveda have the same goal which is attaining union with the Self, the state of transcendental consciousness.

The Hot, Hip & Holy - A Jivamukti Yoga Workshop

with Dechen Thurman und Anja Kühnel

The music is new but the practices are ancient. Hot Jivamukti sequences, keeps this class movin and shakin. Expect the full Jivamukti package of traditional music, meditation, bhakti, and challenging asana, with a taste of outrageousness. This is a Yoga wokshop with a serious passion for life and love designed to get you out of your stuff and back into the groove. Classic Jivamukti: educational, explorational, mystical, optimistic, original, empowering, non-judgmental, vigorous, sequential, inspired with a heavy dose of spirit, a sense of adventure, and wildness - and with great music! We will explore radical yogic methods, focusing primarily on asana practice, which will enable you to become spiritually activated on the mat and to become politically active off the mat.

Yoga after Swami Sivananda

Stefan Datt

Sivananda Yoga offers an integrated yoga practice of Asana, Pranayama, relaxation, nutrition and meditation. The Sivananda practice aligns the Chakras (energy centers) through Asana, cleansing breath techniques and a philosophical foundation.

"A gram of practice is better than tons of Theorie" was one of the favorite sayings of Yoga Master Swami Sivananda (1887-1963). When Swami Sivananda was once asked why then he had written so many books (over 200!), he answered verschwithzt, smiling: "Some humans need tons of theory to be inspired to find their gram of practice."

Kirtan Concert

with Dave Stringer

Download Flash Player, to view the video.

Kirtan is an Eastern form of call and response mantra chanting that is currently experiencing a creative and popular renaisaance in the West.

In this consciousness-transforming practice, the singers vanish into the song just as drops merge into the ocean. Accompanied by tablas, finger cymabls, harmonium, and guitar, the performers and the audience move through an arc that ascends from stillness to joyous flights of clapping and dancing. The mantras quiet the mind, and the music frees the heart. Ecstasy is both the process and the product.

Fire and the energy balance

with Dr. Doru-Beniamin Bodea

The world man can perceive appears to his limited consciousness as being divided in three fundamental spheres: The Earth, The Space and The Sky. These three worlds represent the visible symbols of the three parallel worlds which include all the beings: the physical world of human beings, the subtle world of the spirits and the celestial world of the gods. The fire represents the essential nature of all that exists and the origin of all the things. Therefore, a certain form of fire can surely be identified in any of the perceivable spheres of the world. "The manifested spheres of the three worlds and all they contain, come from the Creator (Prajapati), or in other words from the totality of the three forms of fire" (Chandogya Upanishad, 4, XVII). We propose an extensive presentation of different forms of fire, together with specific methods for awakening and controlling them in our inner being.

Ayurveda and Marma - Consciousness meets unconsciousness (Lecture)

with Dr. Devendra Prasad Mishra

Marmas are the meridian point system of Ayurveda, they correspond to organs nerves, and bodily systems. Marma points are treated with massage, essential oils and yoga asanas. Knowledge of Marmas is also used in martial arts. The word 'marma' was first used in the Atharva Veda. Marma points are junctures where bones, tendons, veins, arteries or nerves may cross or connect. They are usually close to the skin surface through which Prana, the vital energy flows. According to the Susruta Samhita the ancient treatise on ayurveda, the human body contains 107 marma points which, when massaged, pressed or stimulated produces a healing effect. They are often treated with herbal infused oils, essential oils or herbal compresses. Marma therapy is an important part of ayurveda. Marma points are key connecting points in the body where bones, tendons, veins, arteries and nerves cross or join together. These points correspond to organs, bodily systems and energy channels throughout the body. They are a vital part of Ayurvedic treatment and massage. There are many different methods of massaging and manipulating them as well as specific essential oils and compresses for different effects.

Asana like Mudra

with Henning Scheel

Asana (positions) like Mudra (energetic state) is an asana class which leads into the pranabody. We use pranayama (breathing techniques) and bandhas (perineum, abdominal & neck muscles) to direct energy from pelvis to chest (heart) and from chest to head (consciousness). The mind will get quiet and the consciousness ex tenses.

Asasa like Mudra can be considered as a possible reconstruction of the exercises in Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
